What is a
Hybrid Dog?

ma126mud_edited_edited.jpg

A hybrid or 'designer dog' is the result of intentionally breeding two or more purebred dogs to produce healthy crossbreed puppies.  Hybrid dogs are not mutts; their lineage is documented and litters are intentionally bred.

As with all hybrid dogs, our puppies inherit a mix of genes from each of their parents, giving them their unique and fun personalities as well as their diverse appearance.  While we breed for health, temperament, and coat, it is not possible to predict with certainty what each litter will produce.  That said, we carefully pair our dogs to produce beautiful, loving, and loyal puppies.

Since all of our dogs carry poodle genes they are likely to have a non-shedding coat and be hypoallergenic. Poodles also carry a variety of colours and patterns, so if you have a particular look in mind please discuss this with us ahead of time so we can recommend a litter that will most likely meet your goals.

All puppy recommendations are based on temperament testing and the best 'fit' for families in the first instance but we will do our best to match you with your preferred look and gender.

A double doodle is a relatively new hybrid breed.  The term technically refers to the cross-breeding of any two different poodle-mix dogs.  This is the definition Boho Oodles uses however, the term became popular in the 1970's referring to a cross between a Labradoodle and a Goldendoodle (Groodle).

Our breeding program includes the intentional breeding of the following double doodles:

  • Labra-Groodle: Labradoodle x Groodle

  • Golden Mountain Doodle:  Bernedoodle x Groodle

  • Old English Groodle: Sheepadoodle x Groodle

To find out which of our breeds is right for you, read the below characteristics and traits profile of each of the parent breeds.
