Adopting a Boho Puppy

Puppy Waitlist Application Process

Waitlist Application

If you are interested in any of our current or upcoming litters you will need to complete

the Puppy Waitlist Application.  During this process, we ask questions to get to know you and your situation to aid in the matching process.

Deposit

If your application is approved you will be required to pay a $700 deposit to secure your place on the waitlist.  This amount will be deducted from the total cost of your puppy.  At this point, the price of your puppy gets locked in to protect you from any future price increases.

Puppy allocation takes place in the order in which deposits are received.

             Timing and Milestones

Honeymoon

Honeymooning is the term we use to describe the mating process.  This may occur naturally or with the assistance of our reproductive vet.

Female dogs can only conceive during a small window while they are in heat.  The timing of heat cycles is very much up to Mother Nature but usually occurs every six-nine months.

Pregnancy Confirmation

An ultrasound can be performed four weeks after the 'honeymoon' to confirm the pregnancy and indicate the general litter size.

Reservation

All families on the waitlist will be contacted to confirm they are ready to receive a puppy from this litter.  If the timing does not align for you, you will be moved to the next litter, maintaining your position on the list.

Whelping

Once a pregnancy is confirmed, it is another five weeks until the pups are born.

Five days prior to the due date an x-ray is performed to confirm the number of puppies in the litter.

Puppy Rearing

All puppies stay with us until they are a minimum of eight weeks old, at which time they go off to their forever homes.  During this time they undergo all of their vet checks, vaccinations, worming, and microchipping.  They also receive early neurological stimulation and early scent introduction to prepare them for their life ahead and are transitioned to solid foods.

Puppy Assessment and Allocation

At six weeks of age we conduct a temperament assessment on each puppy.  This allows us to get to know each of the puppies and match them to the family that is best suited to them.

Boho Oodles will make recommendations on which puppy is most likely to fit your lifestyle and home environment based on the temprement testing and our observations.  We do not allocate puppies based on appearance alone.  We encourage everyone to keep an open mind with regards to appearance and gender.

Meeting your puppy

Following temprament assessments there will be an opportunity to meet the puppy or puppies that we've assessed will be a fit for you  If we believe there is more than one puppy that would be suitable, you will be given the opportunity to chose between them.  Puppy allocation is conducted in the order in which deposits are paid.

Go Home Day / Gotcha Day

Puppy pick-ups are scheduled for when the pups turn eight weeks old.  Typically this will occur on a weekend.

For puppies that are flying interstate they may need to wait until they are 12 weeks (depending on the airline).

Updates

All honeymoon and pregnancy announcements will be posted to our social media accounts and those already on the waitlist will receive an email.

We encourage you to follow us on our socials to see the latest photos and videos of the puppies.  Each pup will be wearing a unique coloured collar so once you have been allocated a puppy you'll be able to go back and find your puppy.

Pricing

The price we charge for our puppies reflects our very high standards and the work that goes into breeding and raising confident, healthy, and happy dogs.

Our current pricing structure for 2023 is outlined below.  Whilst we do not have plans to increase prices this year, we do reserve the right to amend the pricing structure at any point.  You can be assured however once you have been accepted onto our waitlist the price remains fixed.

The balance of the total cost is due upon pick up.  If you require your puppy to be transported to you we can help arrange this (transport cost are not included in the puppy fee), the balance of your puppy fee will be payable at the time of booking transport.

What's included?

Vaccinations
Puppies will have had their first C3 vaccination when they leave us at 8 weeks. Their next vaccination will be due 4 weeks later (12 weeks) and the final vaccination at 16 weeks. Your puppy is not fully protected until they have had their final vaccination and precautions need to be taken when in public.  You will receive information in the Puppy Go Home Pack on how to safely socialise your pup before they are fully vaccinated.

Worming
We worm pups here at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks. Regular wormi
ng will have to continue once the puppy goes home to their new family. We recommend worming every 2 weeks up until pup is 12 weeks of age. Then worming once a month to 12 months of age and then once every 3 months for rest of life.

Microchipped
All puppies come microchipped. You will be given paperwork to transfer the pup’s ownership into your name. It is important families keep these details up to date.

Boho Oodles is happy to remain a backup contact on the microchip registration should your pup become lost and you are unreachable due to outdated contact information.  This will ensure your pup doesn't end up in a shelter.

Registering your pup with your local council is also a requirement by law in Australia

Vet Health Clearance
All Boho Oodle puppies go to their forever homes after they have been thoroughly health checked by our trusted vet. The puppy’s structure, eyes, teeth, heart, ears, and skin will be examined.

We also provide families with a copy of parents’ DNA reports so that you can be assured your pup is clear of preventable disease-specific illnesses.

Desexing
Puppies are not desexed when they leave us. We do not believe in early desexing for our pups, however, Boho Oodle puppies are sold as pet only so all families will sign a purchase contract that states the puppy will be desexed by 13 months at the latest (unless the pup is going to a breeding home or guardian family).

You will be reimbursed the cost of desexing upon proof of the procedure from your veterinarian.

*rebate is not available on discounted puppies.

Pet Insurance

You will receive 6 weeks free pet insurance through Petplan.  It is HIGHLY encouraged that you take out pet insurance for your puppy beyond this period as vet bills for treating accidents, injury, or illness can run into the thousands of dollars.
