Characteristics and Traits of a Groodle

Groodles are a hugely popular breed due to their friendliness and eager-to-please nature of the golden retriever and the high intelligence and low-shedding coat of the poodle — making for a dog who's both easy to train and a sweet family pet. They are sociable, fun-loving, active dogs full of love and affection meaning they get along great with other pets, strangers and also tend to be patient and gentle with young children. Groodles need to be with their family and wouldn't do well as outside dogs or in homes where they'd be left alone for long periods of time.

Their appearance can vary widely depending on which parent possesses the more dominant genes, but more often than not they have the adorable 'teddy-bear' look.

Poodles
Poodles make excellent family dogs—they’re fun, energetic, intelligent, and easy to train. They thrive with plenty of mental and physical exercise and prefer to be around people most of the time. Poodles crave attention and, if ignored or left alone too often, may develop habits like nuisance barking.

Early socialization is essential and should include exposure to different people, other pets, and a consistent grooming routine.
Grooming is an unavoidable part of life with a Poodle. They are a great choice for allergy sufferers, as their hair doesn’t shed in the traditional sense, minimizing dander in the air. However, Poodles do lose hair (similar to humans), but their curls trap it, preventing it from spreading. As a result, regular grooming is necessary to prevent painful matting.
Golden
Retrievers

The golden retriever is even-tempered, intelligent, and affectionate. Golden retrievers are playful, yet gentle with children, and they tend to get along well with other pets and strangers.

These dogs are eager to please, which probably explains why they respond so well to obedience training and are such popular service dogs. They also like to work, whether it involves hunting birds or fetching their owner's slippers.

Golden retrievers are not often barkers, and they lack guard instincts, so do not count on them to make good watchdogs. However, some golden retrievers will let you know when strangers are approaching.

Golden retrievers have a double coat and are known to shed year-round with seasonal heavier shedding. They are not recommended for people with allergies.
